And The Winner Is...

Nicki!

Head over to my shop and see if there is something you like. If not, let me know I can make you a scarf in your choice of colors. :)

I'll try to post up the song list once I get it built and burned for the gifts! Thanks so much for helping out!

Give Me A Hand, I’ll Give You A Free Hug *Giveaway*

It’s time for this year’s installment of Give Me A Hand, I’ll Give You A Free Hug. Yes, this will happen each and every year at this time. Actually, this year I’m running much, much later that other years.

Here’s a short summary: (click HERE for more details.)

Years ago I was very poor. I couldn't afford to buy Christmas presents for my sisters, so instead I pirated burned them each a CD of some of my favorite music.

Times have changed for me, and while I can now afford “real” gifts, I still make CDs. I search and listen all year to decide what songs to include.

Here are the rules:

1. The lead/primary singer must be a woman.

2. There is no genre confinement. Country, rock, classical-anything goes as long as it’s a kick ass song.

3. The song must not have been included on previous CDs.

4. Age of song does not matter.

5. Requests are considered, however, they are not a promise of inclusion.

6. Final decision depends on whether or not I enjoy the song. (Not gonna spend money on songs I don’t like-just sayin’)

This year, we have a theme.

I’ve never intentionally included a theme, although there was one year when I very unintentionally created a man-hating CD and had all the women I love ready to dump their men....Whoops! That's probably another blog at another time.

Anywho.

Our 2010 theme is:

I’d strip to that!

See, I tend to rate songs on whether or not I’d strip to them. If I were to strip, which isn’t going to happen. At least not in this lifetime. Not professionally and probably not privately. Unless I miraculously lose a metric-shit-ton of weight sometime before the osteoporosis sets in. Or maybe if hubs takes out the garbage without provocation. Neither is likely to happen any time soon. Still, I enjoy a good pole dance in my head.

So dig deep and channel your inner erotic dancer! What song or songs would you play whilst stripping? On stage, for your better half or after one too many glasses of wine? What songs get your hips going? Got one that makes you wish you had agreed to the hubby’s plan of installing that pole in the basement?

Tell me!

Here’s the good part-I’ll take the names from all of the suggestions and throw them in a Santa hat. The one that I draw out will win his or her choice of scarves from my Esty shop-Handmade Hugs.

At present, there aren’t many to choose from, but if you don’t like what you see I always whip up a custom job.

Oh, and one last thing...make is snappy! You have until 12/16! I’m running out of time!

You Won't Believe Where I've Been!

You guys know that I’m terrible about posting regularly. So srsly, quityerbitchin.

No really, I hate that I’ve not posted in so long. I don’t believe that I’ve went this long since I brought my blog over my MySpace. I can’t tell you how many promises I’ve made myself to keep up with this blog. I have no aspirations of being a famous blogger or anything, but I do love to write and I get totally retarded-bounce-in-my-seat excited when I get comments.

Just to catch you up-here’s a short list of all the crap that has kept me away.

• I inherited a baby.

Ok, not so much inherited as ended up with. Or was given...anyway you want to type it out, I’m now living with and raising a toddler. Said toddler happens to be our nephew.

Though the magic that is family drama and BS ( I could go into it, but I won’t. At least not at this point) I went from having two kids, to three. From the crazy of 16 and 11 year old girls, to changing diapers and potty training a 20 month old boy.

W.T.F.O.M.G.HELPMETOMCRUISE.

Did you know that boys start playing with their business really early on? I had no idea. I swear to god, he’s a tiny Al Bundy.

When he came to us his days and nights were all mixed up. It’s taken us a while to get into a good routine with him, but things are finally starting to get back to normal, if you can call it that. At least I’m not a zombie so much anymore. I’d go more with walking dead, as he still isn’t quite sleeping though the night.

There is a bright side. He’s a really good kid. And really smart. And JesusH, is he cute.

My girls have been troopers though this whole experience. Like the rest of us, the two of them had a hard time adjusting but all in all, I have some kick ass kids. The two of them have been a huge help, including being uncharacteristically complaint-less. (Give or take a hissy fit)

I have found a greater love for being the mother of teens though this experience.

Most folks don’t realize the blessings that teens bestow.

For instance:

• They wipe their own asses.
• They can cook for themselves.
• When thirsty, they retrieve their own libations.
• You get alone time while they emo the evening away on Facebook.
• You can go pee without them present--sometimes.
• It is possible, on occasion, to leave them at home alone and go shopping with myself. (Thank you, Oprah)
• While they do eat money, it isn’t the same as freaking out waiting for the penny to “reappear”.
• Possession of an understanding that the toilet is gross, not fun.

But seriously:

I’m grateful for this time with the little booger. On the flip side, nothing is legal yet and I don’t know that it ever will be-so I have to try not to get too attached. If and when he can go home it will be great but also heartbreaking.

Now that things are getting lined out and we are making room for the cuteness I should be able to start my life up again. Several posts are doing summersaults in my head. Including, but not limited to the story of how I hosted two Thanksgiving dinners at my house in one week (True story. No, I’m not kidding. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment.), and a giveaway! Yep! Nothing fancy, just a chance at the awesomenesss of a Handmade Hug scarf for helping me out with a little somethin.

Stay tuned!
